This profile photo speaks volumes! Here I am with my BIG "Leader of the Year" award--an honor I am tremendously proud of. For almost five years now, I have worked to connect women and help them find ways to support each other. The Summit/Providence pod is nearing 100 members, and my job is to get to know them all and show them how BIG helps them further their lives, both professionally and personally. I wear a lot of hats, but they all fit together so well. No one job is operated in a vacuum. I spend a lot of time raising money for the theatre department of Summit High School. This is done, in part, through educational outreach and lobby direction for the shows. I work to tell the story of the show, and give background to the theme so that theater patrons feel a connection with the material. I have created, through ancillary products, a mock barbershop for Sweeney Todd out of Olde London; a Candy Shoppe for Mary Poppins. These displays along with the educational aspects of the installations have engaged the community and garnered nominations from The Papermill Playhouse for the Rising Star Awards in 2015 and 2016. Through these school projects, I became involved with Dreamcatcher, a local professional theatre company. For Dreamcatcher, I try to spread the word about their great shows and devise connections between the show's content and area organizations. For SPARC, the Summit Performing Arts Resource Committee, I co-chair the annual gala which raises over $32,000 for performing arts programs in the schools. My passion is writing and marketing, and I use Facebook mostly to help the organizations I am involved with spread their good word. Through my business, melaniewilsonmedia, I have written guest blog posts, sales letters, press releases, award announcements, listing copy etc. for many BIG members. My approach is very personal--whether you are joining my pod or hiring me to help promote a project, I will always help you find your own voice so that your message is authentic and represents you.
